Experiment in the Lab

One of the most rewarding experiences during my B.Ed. internship was conducting a small science experiment with students in the school laboratory. However it was done under the guidance of school science teacher. As a future educator, I always believed that the best way to make science exciting and relatable for students is by giving them the opportunity to engage directly with the subject.

The experiment conducted were the finding the solution whether it is acidic, basic or neutral. The main aspect of this experiment was preparing the solution which was to be inspected, with the help of lab assistant the solutions were prepared. The students were first given the instructions on how to perform the experiment; how to use the pH paper and using the scale based on the colour change to determine whether the solution is acidic, basic or neutral. This was done under the guidance of school science teacher. Then the students performed the experiment on their own.

As an intern, this experiment was one of the most rewarding teaching experiences. It allowed me to engage students in a practical way, helping them connect theory to reality.
